Today I presented the Course Hub research idea at the Digital Education Hub at the Hector Institute for Empirical Educational Research, University of Tübingen.

The Course Hub is a course-facing digital infrastructure for statistics education. It brings together learning materials, videos, Q4R reflections, exercises, quizzes, learning games, and explicit learning records in one environment. The aim is not to collect data for its own sake, but to make learning processes visible enough to support students, inform teaching, and open research opportunities under a clear privacy boundary.

In the same session, Dr. Jakob Schwerter presented LEARN-STAT as a first research idea for what can be studied with data generated by this kind of learning infrastructure. LEARN-STAT focuses on affective, motivational, self-regulatory, and engagement processes in statistics learning and asks how these processes co-develop over a semester.

Across both presentations, the central design question was the same: how can digital course infrastructure provide useful feedback and research data without turning learning into surveillance?
